Over the next few months I'll be building my own solar panels from cells, installing them on a frame and doing my damndest to reduce my electric bills to zero!
I'm pricing the cells at the moment ready, I figure a 1000 cell package will net me enough panels to produce just over 1Kw in bright sunlight.
I'll build one unit to start with and do a power survey and see how it's going.
I figure eventually I'll need 4 Kw to be bill free year round, as the utility will just carry surplus over to the next month.
Costliest item will be the "grid tied" inverter, which I'll purchase a 4-5Kw unit.
Our average electric bill is around $80 a month, but at the moment we are pretty frugal, which will change if we have a "surplus" to utilize.
